Attention Melrose: Pivotal Fiscal Year 2025 Update
Earlier this week, Interim Superintendent John Macero and Mayor Jen Grigoraitis delivered a pivotal fiscal year 2025 update to the Melrose Public Schools community. The update, which addresses the reality of our schools’ $4 million needs gap and the profound impact of rising costs on the school district, can be read here. It’s a Good Week for…
An Update on City Finances & Management in First 100 Days
Mayor Jen has provided the community with an update on the City’s finances and management over her first 100 days in office. The update outlines 1) progress moving Melrose’s employment policies and practices forward; 2) an external financial management review; 3) the timely delivery of the City’s annual financial reports; and 4) the fiscal year 2025 budget. Returning Your City Census (By April 30)
Melrosians have until Tuesday, April 30, 2024, to return their City Census to the Elections Office (did you know there are impacts to your decision to return the census?). To learn more, visit www.cityofmelrose.org/citycensus.
Weighing in On Water and Sewer Rates for FY 25
The Water Rate Review Committee will vote to recommend water and sewer rates for the next fiscal year during its meeting on Tuesday, April 30. The Committee will also discuss potential changes to the senior and low-income discount programs for water, sewer, and trash fees. For more details, click here.
Spring Cleaning for a Cause This Saturday W/Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian
This Saturday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., State Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian will host her 3rd Annual Recycling & Sustainability Day for the City of Melrose. The one-day event allows Melrose residents to consciously clear clutter while making a difference and learning how to further their sustainability initiatives. Shedding Light on the DPW’s Green Team
Ever wonder who readies the community’s sports fields or beautifies our veterans' memorials? It’s a group of DPW employees called the Green Team. Free Mental Health 101 Courses for Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the City is offering two free Mental Health 101 courses designed to help you spot signs and symptoms of challenges related to mental health, learn about self-care tools and tips, combat stigma, and teach you how to help someone in need.
